I’m 62 Years Old With the Biology of a 39-Year-Old. Here’s Exactly What I’ve Been Doing

Youtube video

I've been sitting on this for four years.

Not because I wasn't sure it was working. It was obviously working. But because I wanted to be completely certain before I told anyone.

Certain it was real. Certain it was lasting. Certain it wasn't some fluke of my particular biology.

Four years later … I'm certain.

I'm 62 years old. My biological age, measured through the PhenoAge calculator developed by longevity researcher Dr. Morgan Levine, is 39.1 years.

My inflammatory marker CRP came back below the lower detection limit of the test … so low the lab can't put a precise number on it.

I'm in the best shape of my entire life. Not the best shape for a 62-year-old.

The best shape of my life. And I have been genuinely, completely, not hungry for junk food or processed foods for four years.

What I've discovered is something I believe is a legitimate medical breakthrough. And I want to share it with you properly.

First, you need to know where I started

For those of you who don't know my story, I was once over 400 pounds. I lost 220 pounds when I was 40 … and for fifteen years after that I was effortlessly lean.

Not through discipline or white-knuckling it.
Just naturally, easily, by healing and nourishing my body in the right ways. That became the foundation of everything I taught through The Gabriel Method.

And then I turned 55. And everything stopped working.

I put on weight. I started exercising more to compensate … and the more I exercised, the more weight I gained. Nothing I tried could stop it. Over the three years between 55 and 58, I gained close to 100 pounds.

For someone who had built an entire methodology around helping people lose weight … who had been the living proof of concept for his own work … this was devastating. I felt humbled. I felt humiliated. And I genuinely had no idea what was happening.

What nobody explains about turning 55

What I understand now … and didn't understand then … is that after 55 the body enters a state of chronic low-grade inflammation that is categorically different from anything that came before it.

The body accumulates what some researchers call zombie cells … cells that stopped working properly but didn't die. They sit in tissue and continuously produce toxic inflammatory signals. After 55, the body's ability to clear them declines. They accumulate. The inflammatory environment keeps getting worse.

That inflammation does two things simultaneously that most people don't connect.

First, it disrupts the hormones that regulate hunger and fat storage. Leptin resistance sets in. Insulin sensitivity drops. The body holds fat aggressively and releases it reluctantly. This is why the weight comes and nothing stops it … even when you're doing everything right.
Second, that same inflammation accelerates biological aging. The body's repair systems are compromised. The biological clock speeds up. Weight gain and accelerated aging aren't two separate problems. They're the same problem with the same root cause.

I know this now. I wish I'd known it at 55.

Getting sick was the best thing that happened to me

When I was 58 I got sick … not dramatically, but enough that I went on a detox. That's always been my go-to when my body needs to reset.

I've done five-day detoxes, ten-day detoxes, twenty-one-day detoxes over the years. And they've always worked well.

Here's what I've always noticed about detoxing … and what the research confirms. The first couple of days are hard. But somewhere around day three or four, something shifts. The hunger doesn't get worse. It gets quieter. Then it just … goes.

Scientists call this state digestive quiescence. The gut's housekeeping system finally gets to run uninterrupted. The cellular cleanup activates. The body starts consuming those zombie cells through a process called autophagy. Inflammation drops dramatically. And in place of hunger … calm. Clarity. Energy that feels clean and different. A genuine sense of wellbeing.

I've run online detoxes for hundreds of people over the years. And by day three, almost without fail, people would come to me and say: can we keep going? I feel amazing. I don't want to stop.

I always said no. Come off it properly. The group is finishing together.
This time, for the first time, I said yes to myself.

One day at a time … for a hundred days

I decided to find out what happens if I just keep going. One day at a time.
I kept it simple. Vegetable broths with healthy salts. Supergreens. Nutritional yeast. Trace elements, minerals, a little protein. And I stayed in digestive quiescence.

One day became one week. One week became one month. The weight kept dropping. The hunger stayed gone. The energy was extraordinary. And it kept going.

I wasn't weighing myself. But looking back, it was somewhere between 80 and 100 pounds in around 100 days. And I never felt deprived. I felt genuinely extraordinary the entire time.

(My 100 Day Transformation)

The research on this is remarkable. The largest human study ever conducted on prolonged fasting involved 1,422 people fasting for up to three weeks. 93.2% of them reported a complete absence of hunger by day four.

Not reduced hunger. Absence of hunger. And what they reported feeling instead was increased wellbeing, mental clarity, calm, and sometimes euphoria.

That's exactly what I was experiencing.

And I was living in it continuously.

The breakthrough: staying in the state while nourishing the body

After a while I started thinking about how to add more nourishment while staying in what I now call Prolonged Digestive Quiescence … PDQ.

Because I wanted to exercise again. I wanted to build muscle. I wanted to be more active. And to do that properly I needed more protein, more nutrition, more fuel.

And here's the key insight … the thing that changed everything: It is not how much you eat that takes you out of digestive quiescence. It is how much digestive work the food requires.

If you nourish yourself with foods in their most bioavailable, most easily absorbed forms … superfoods, protein powders, supergreens, nutritional yeast, blended smoothies, and eventually superfood ice creams … your digestive system stays at rest. The body gets everything it needs. But it never gets pulled out of that restorative state.

I started slowly. Adding more protein. More nutrients. All in liquid, blended, maximally bioavailable forms. And I stayed in digestive quiescence.
And then something happened that genuinely surprised me.

Growing muscle like a teenager

I started lifting weights. And I started growing muscle faster than I had in decades.

(6 months later, growing muscle like a teenager with very little effort)

The reason, I realised, is that the inflammatory hormones that normally suppress testosterone and growth hormone in older men … they weren't there. The insulin resistance that typically drives hyperinsulinemia and blunts muscle growth … gone. The hormonal environment in my body was functioning the way it does in a young man.

I was exercising once every four days for about 20 minutes per session. I kept it modest deliberately … I didn't want to push hard enough to activate my digestion and pull myself out of the state. And even with that minimal input, I was getting stronger fast. Without much effort at all.

Four years later … the numbers

I'm 62 now and in the best shape of my life…

Jon Gabriel - best shape of my life

And I wanted to see what four years of living this way had actually done to my biology. So I got blood work done recently and ran the results through the PhenoAge biological age calculator … the formula developed by longevity researcher Dr. Morgan Levine.

My biological age: 39.1 years.
I am 62 years old with the biology of a 39-year-old. Twenty-three years younger than my chronological age.

And the primary driver of that result is my CRP … my C-reactive protein, the gold standard inflammatory marker. It came back below the lower detection limit of the test. So low the lab can't measure exactly how low it is.

That is what four years of prolonged digestive quiescence has done to the inflammation in my body. And when inflammation is that low … the biological clock genuinely moves in reverse.

What a biological age of 39 actually feels like at 62

I want to say something here that I think matters more than any statistic.
Reducing your biological age isn't just about living longer. That's a someday benefit … abstract, invisible, something you can't feel today.
What a biological age of 39 means right now, in the body I'm living in every day, is something completely different.

I just had another child. I bike. I ski. I run. I play soccer with my kids. I do jujitsu with them. I'm endlessly active. I need very little sleep and I wake up with more energy than I know what to do with.

Even if this doesn't add a single extra day to my life … walking through my sixties in a body that is biologically 39 is a completely different experience than walking through them in a body that feels every one of those years. The energy is different. The mobility is different. The absence of pain is different. The way I show up for the people I love is different.

One person wakes up ready. The other wakes up managing.

That gap … that difference in daily lived experience … is what I think people underestimate when they hear the words biological age. It sounds like a statistic. But it's actually the texture of every single day.

And you can't buy your way into it. No drug, no surgery, no shortcut gives you that. It requires addressing what's actually driving the aging in the first place.

What is PDQ … and what does it mean for you?

PDQ stands for Prolonged Digestive Quiescence. Or, as I like to say, Pretty Darn Quick … because of how quickly the body responds when you give it the right conditions.

The core idea is this: the body has a mode it can be in continuously … a state where inflammation is minimal, the biological clock is moving in reverse, hunger is absent, healthy foods taste extraordinary, and the body is naturally, effortlessly lean.

Most people who have done a serious detox have touched this state briefly. The hunger that was hard in the first days suddenly goes quiet. Something shifts. And you think … this is what it's supposed to feel like.

What I've spent four years figuring out is how to stay there. Not for five days. Not for three weeks.

Continuously. While being fully nourished, getting stronger, and living an active and genuinely extraordinary life.

You don't have to do what I do. But the principle … shifting your nutrition toward more bioavailable, more digestible forms, reducing the digestive load on your body, allowing the inflammation to drop … that principle is available to anyone. And the results, even partially applied, can be profound.

Working with me directly

For the first time I'm now offering a very small number of people the chance to go through this process with me directly. One on one. My Total Body Transformation and Biological Age Reduction One on One Coaching.
This isn't a group program. It can't be … every person's body is different, and this requires me to be there with you personally, reading what your body is telling us and adjusting in real time. The number of people I can work with at any one time is genuinely limited.

This is for someone who is ready to make their health their number one priority for the next month or two. Someone who wants to address the root cause … not just lose weight, but genuinely turn back the biological clock in a way that is measurable and lasting.

If that's where you are … just reply to the email you received, or reach out through the site. Tell me a little about yourself. My team will be in touch and if it looks like a good fit, we'll set up a time to connect personally.
