Jon:  

Where are you calling from, Juliana?

Juliana:  

Los Angeles.

Jon:  

Okay, how can I help you? How\'s the weather there, by the way?

Juliana:  

Really hot. It\'s hot. Yeah, it\'s very hot, yeah.

Jon:  

I\'ll tell you what, I could do with hot right now because I\'ve been in Australia and it\'s been winter here and it\'s been raining. I\'m in Melbourne, it\'s cloudy, it\'s raining.

Juliana:  

That\'s my favorite weather, is the winter. I love it.

Jon:  

I need sun. Oh, and remind me — I\'m going to talk about this right now. Juliana, just stay with me one second. There\'s lots of different things that cause your body to become more sensitive to the hormone Leptin. Sunlight causes your body to become more sensitive to the hormone Leptin.

Juliana:  

It\'s funny you just mentioned that, because there\'s a doctor, Doctor Soram Khalsa. He\'s huge and he wrote The Vitamin D Revolution, and I was going to see if he could maybe come on and talk to you. He wrote the entire book all about Vitamin D.

Jon:  

Well this is what happens. There\'s two things that the sunlight does that causes you to become more sensitive to Leptin. Sunlight increases the level of Vitamin D, which decreases the level of Proinflammatory Cytokines, the hormones that cause inflammation. It decreases those, so that makes you more sensitive to Leptin. And it also increases the level of the hormone Melanocortins in your brain. That also makes your brain more sensitive to Leptin.

But if you think about it logically, the reason why sunlight makes your body more sensitive to Leptin is because sunlight is a signal that spring has come. When spring has come, that means there\'s more food and it\'s warmer. So it\'s a signal to your body that you don\'t need as much food. You don\'t need to carry excess weight; there\'s not a famine anymore. So sunlight will make you more sensitive to Leptin.

But here\'s how clever the body is. That\'s true for humans. Did you know it\'s not true for every animal? If you were a Siberian hamster, which you\'re not, I know –

Juliana:  

Thank you.

Jon:  

None of us are, but if you were a Siberian hamster, sunlight would make your body less sensitive to the hormone Leptin. It would actually make your body want to be fatter. Do you know why?

Juliana:  

Why?

Jon:  

Because Siberian hamsters hibernate during the winter.

Juliana:  

I see.

Jon:  

So sunlight is a signal there\'s food, they want to store as much weight as possible because the winter\'s coming and they\'re going to go into hibernation. So prior to going into hibernation, they eat and eat and eat and eat. So sunlight to a Siberian hamster is a signal to become more resistant to the hormone Leptin.

Sunlight makes your body stop listening to Leptin if you\'re a Siberian hamster because a Siberian hamster wants to get fat for going into the winter. Sunlight makes your body more sensitive if you\'re a human.

So it\'s not the hormone; it\'s the regulation at the cellular level. And there\'s a whole new study of epigenetics that talks about how the cell has almost its own consciousness, and it knows whether or not to listen to a hormone because there\'s this high regulation of order that nobody really understands. The old paradigm is that our bodies are these like mechanical tools, mechanical instruments, and you just change the oil filter, you take this thing out, you put this thing in, and you\'re all better, and that\'s not the reality. The reality is that at the cellular level there\'s a consciousness that knows when to listen to this hormone and knows when to listen to that hormone, knows when to stop listening to hormones, knows when to produce certain genes, when to not produce certain genes or to activate certain genes and when not to activate. There\'s a whole consciousness. So our cells are living consciousness and our cells know how fat we need to be. It\'s amazing.

And when you learn how to communicate to your cells through visualization, which is what I discovered, you\'re actually able to talk to your body\'s consciousness. And then it becomes so easy because you can communicate how thin you want to be, how healthy you want to be, all these things and your body understands. It becomes a two-way street. I actually find in my visualizations my body talks back to me. It will tell me certain things. If I make a visual image that I want to look a certain way, and I remember when I was losing weight, I\'ll have a vision come back to me of what I need to do. Maybe I need to do more biking or maybe I need to meditate more, but I\'ll have a visual image of what I need to do to get to that point. It becomes a two-way type of communication.

And to me, there\'s just nothing more fascinating than this body that we\'ve been given and the potential to operate it. There was a famous philosopher, and Juliana, just stay with me sweetheart because I\'m going to be with you in one second, but I just want to make this point. There\'s a famous philosopher in the 1900s, P.D. Ouspensky his name was, who said that our bodies are like spaceships that we pull around with a horse and buggy. And what he meant by that is that we really don\'t know how to operate our bodies, so what we\'re doing is we\'re taking a spaceship, something has the potential to fly and go into space and do intergalactic travel, and we\'re pulling it with a horse. And he said, imagine what would happen if we study and learn how to start the engine so that we can drive it, and then fly it, and then do intergalactic travel and all this stuff.

This is what our bodies — our bodies and our brains have such potential, and they say we only use 10 percent of our brain. What does that mean? It means that we\'re carrying around a spaceship that we\'re pulling around with a horse and buggy. But what I\'m learning, more and more, is the potential that our bodies have to be healthy and to be fit and to be young and to be vibrant and to do incredible things and to create an incredible life through this type of communication. So just wanted to make that point.
